A New Direction
A New Direction
(excerpts)
Sarah Brown also wouldn't object to the moniker "Director Sarah." Although the actress has her professional plate full with the front-burner, hugely popular role of Carly Corinthos, stepping behind the camera has become an increasingly intriguing possibility. "I'd love to get my feet wet directing [at GH]," she admits. "I've never really approached it with the powers-that-be. But I've been sitting in the control booth every moment possible. I've taken television directing courses. I know how it works. I want to get all the technical aspects because I'm much more visually focused than I am technically."
And while the prospect of doing double duty appeals to her artistic inclinations, it is also highly pragmatic. " I want to have a safety net of some sort," she confides. "I don't want to put my whole life into acting and then get to a certain age where the business becomes very unkind...not necessarily in the soap genre, but the amount of work that's out there for that age group just decreases dramatically. I don't want to have everything lifted and tucked and sucked and moved. I think it's very smart and very important, especially as a woman in the acting field, but [also] for every actor, to not have to sit around and wait for the phone to ring everyday."
